A full day built around two separate stops: an afternoon visit inside the Teide Observatory, with an astrophysics talk and a look at the Sun through a solar telescope, followed after sunset by a separate guided stargazing session with long-range telescopes at the cable car base station - a different site, not the Observatory itself.

What you’ll do
Afternoon at the Teide Observatory
After pickup, your guide takes you to the Teide Observatory at around 2,400 m for an astrophysics talk at the visitor centre, a look at the Sun through a portable solar telescope, and a look inside a working night-time telescope to see how it operates. The Observatory only opens to visitors by day - its astronomers work there at night, which is why the evening observation happens elsewhere.
Sunset in Teide National Park
As the Observatory visit ends, you head into Teide National Park for sunset. The with-dinner choice includes a seated dinner here; without dinner, it's a break to eat your own food instead.
Stargazing at the cable car base station
After dark, a separate guided stargazing session takes place at the Teide Cable Car base station, around 2,356 m, using long-range telescopes - a site apart from the Observatory you visited earlier.

FAQs
Is the Observatory visited at night?
No. The Observatory only opens to visitors in the afternoon, since its astronomers work there overnight. The evening stargazing session happens separately, at the Teide Cable Car base station.

Wonderful experience, very interesting and engaging, the English-speaking guide was really nice, competent and conveyed all his passion for astronomy.
We wanted to give five stars, but the stargazing was cancelled because of the weather - so just four. It was still a wonderful experience with excellent guides.
No French-speaking guide. The Spanish guide who spoke in English talked much too fast, and most participants couldn't follow. Really frustrating, since it's certainly very interesting, especially given the price per person. Even though the Observatory visit itself was original, we didn't understand much of the guide's technical explanations. We only observed four stars or constellations across the four telescopes - we would have loved to see many more. By the end almost everyone had given up on following the translation and was impatiently waiting for the bus back.
Wonderful, every aspect of this activity.
A fabulous experience! Recommended for enthusiasts and non-enthusiasts alike.
